Purchasing Manager

 

Summary of Job Functions:

Responsible for buying or approving the acquisition of goods and services needed by the company whilst managing a small procurement team. The role would be ideal for an individual with a proven track record within purchasing to take control of the organisations’ entire procurement function.

 

Major Duties and Responsbilities:

  • Manage and mentor the purchasing team.
  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include, but not limited to, supplier performance, buyer activity levels, financial (AP) performance and material shortage elimination.
  • Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.
  • Ensure performance improvement and recovery plans are developed, issued, tracked and reported on as required for supply base management and improvement.
  • Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.
  • Manage material flow to insure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on-time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.
  • Strategically develop and implement commodity/supply chain strategies covering all commodities, services and supplier processes throughout a global enterprise to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardisation.
  • Lead a global enterprise organisation within the scope of the strategic sourcing process to drive cost out of the supply chain by managing the following: Commodity and negotiation strategies including Terms and Conditions, supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation and rationalisation of supply chain solutions, including vendor managed inventory (VMI), supplier consignment, safety stock levels, etc.
  • Lead product development commodity strategies in line with corporate initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management.
  • Drive usage of cost models to validate commodity strategies and to understand significant cost drivers.
  • Manage all activities that develop relationships with suppliers.
  • Develop an overall vendor base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilising global market exploitation, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies.
  • Provide commodity support to New Programme Teams as required to meet target costs and establish program cost models.
  • Manage materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives.

 

Skills/Qualifications Required:

  • 7-10 years progressive experience in Purchasing & Sourcing with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in a strategic setting in a mid to large size organisation
  • Solid track record meeting substantial material cost reduction targets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering or equivalent business experience.
  • Strong computer skills, ideally with experience using Windows-based PC programmes.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines.
  • Ability to identify processes needing improvement and to recommend improvements.

 

Organisational Relationships:

  • Report to Operations Director

Trainee Spares & Magnet Calibration Engineer

 

Summary of Job Functions:

To provide a service in response to customer demands within the Spares & Service Department and to carry out the necessary procedures to ensure that these demands are dealt with effectively.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support customers by phone and / or email.
  • Prepare quotations in response to customer’s requirements for the supply of spares & repairs
  • Obtain prices from Suppliers and internal Departments when required
  • Raise Order Sheets for spares and repairs
  • Carry out procedures to ensure repairs received are dealt within the appropriate and timely manner as per customer demands.
  • Raise and update enquiry files.
  • Raise and update customer case files.
  • Provide support and cover in the case of Spares & Service staff absences.
  • Assist with magnet calibration visits within the UK, with some overseas travel if required to include overnight/periods of travel.

 

Organisational Relationships:

  • Reports directly to Spares & Service Supervisor.

 

Skills:

  • A range of skills are required including:
  • Good communication
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Full valid driving license
  • Knowledge of Sage Line 100 and CRM operating systems but not essential as training will be given
  • FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED

Toolmaker/Machinist

 

Summary of Job Functions:

Responsible for machining of product to high tolerances, Shafts/Pulleys etc, mainly Lathe work with some milling of keyways etc. The machine operator is responsible for translating drawings and the quality of his/her work. Working safely at all times ensuring that the maintenance of the equipment is kept to a high standard.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilties:

  • Set and operate the relevant machine efficiently unsupervised
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ensure all aspects of the product specification are followed and run correctly
  • Meet daily production work schedules to ensure customer service fulfilled
  • Complete all safety checks prior to operation the machine and record appropriately
  • Ensure quality checks are carried out at appropriate intervals and report any issues or concerns
  • Report any unsafe conditions or problems when running the machine immediately
  • General housekeeping of work area during shift
  • Must wear PPE and adhere to all safety rules
  • Manual handling tasks involved in the manufacturing process

 

Organisational Relationships:

  • Reports directly to Senior charge hand.

 

Skills/Qualifications Required:

  • Time served engineer/Toolmaker preferable
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and good understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • A good understanding and knowledge of quality standards and practices
  • Familiar with manual lifting techniques
  • A passion/enthusiasm for machine operation
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Team player
  • Reliable and committed with good time keeping skills
  • Highly motivated and hard working

Assembly Operator

 

Summary of Job Functions:

Manufacture of tube magnets/grates and small magnetic components. Working to sanitary standards for food industries.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilties 

  • Manufacture of Permanent Magnetic Tubes
  • Cutting of tube
  • Tack welding of thin material using TIG welding
  • Silver soldering of small components
  • Handling of small powerful magnets
  • Turning of stainless steel tube
  • Polishing of components to high standard
  • Maintaining stock levels of small components

 

Organisational Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Senior Charge-hand

 

Skills/Qualifications Desired:

TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE RIGHT CANDIDATE
EXPERIENCES IS DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

  • Tool-making experience
  • Ability to manufacture from engineering drawings
  • Ability to use machinery - Drill/Lathe/hand tools
  • Basic TIG and MIG welding experience
  • Silver solder and brazing experience
  • Time served apprentice
  • Ability to use polishing tools
  • Safety aware
  • Pride in work is essential
